This is my beautiful collie, Lady. This picture was taken 3 weeks ago, at age 13. You can’t tell, but she is blind, deaf, and has crippling arthritis in her legs. Today, at great personal expense, I took her to a new vet who specializes in older dogs and pain management.
I found out she has lyme disease, and may have had it for a long time, as our last vet never tested for it. She is on antibiotics right now, as well as an anti-inflammatory for her joints, but the visit alone cost me over $400.
My parents are in a tight spot with money right now, as am I (part time cashier saving to go back to college holla) but they won’t go the extra mile for this dog. She has literally been with me every step of the way, from severe bipolar depression, a self harm addiction, and a few suicide attempts. I wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for her. Right now, I am in the process of moving out of a toxic atmosphere…I will be pretty mobile for a few weeks until I find somewhere permanent, but until then, Lady is homeless. My parents will not spend any money to treat her, and I fear what may happen to her in my absence.
If anyone is a collie enthusiast, and has experience with older dogs that have special needs, please PLEASE message me. This dog is my life. Without her, I am nothing.
